    Most of waterfowl crap is actually water. The dorks failed to mention the hundreds of "protected" seagulls that fly each night from rubbish tips onto the lakes to crap in them all night.

    When I was meat hunting I mainly used a 7*61 and had a leupold fixed 4*32 on it. Never failed me and just used holdover. Eyes were younger then.

    As the above chaps have suggested. Often using a lower velocity shell will markedly improve pattern. And as Mr Duck suggested try smaller lead shot. I've dumped geese with 28ga #5's with half choke...
