    Be good 40mm, what you propose is highly unacceptable. Claw hammers are for wood work only, hitting metal will damage the face. What you should use is a ball Pein or club hammer. ;)

    I reckon it is far more likely that the dents have occurred after firing as if the case was dented before firing the case would very likely be reformed after the firing.

    That's something I might consider saving BUT in one word RUST. If it has any hidden rust they will find it and you will need to be welded and certified. It would have to be in real good condition...
