Thanks, 9 isn't many.
How many live deer did these guys see when they saw more than 7 dead deer Burtonator?
Won't quite numbers but word on the street is the repellent worked very well.
The collars won't be cheap and will be recovered from the survivors of the 1080 by shooting them. The collared deer that sucumbed to 1080 won't have to be shot obviously.
They will know exactly how many have not or have died from the poison. The ones with the collars on are guaranteed to die and left to rot.
I doubt there were 100 deer captured and collared, more like 20. The last time deer were collared in the Clarence for research into the new repellent it was a very inefficient operation helicopter...
Yes
60% or more of the deer dead by Friday evening, hopefully I'm wrong. Probably see the white bellies from the road in places.
Don't think the toxic baits have been dropped yet
One prefeed and one toxic drop. Repellant is incorporated in the baits not coated so wont wash off.
Repopulating slowly yes but that area is to be poisoned again next year so even with repellent will take another hit. Hopefully it will be its last....
Tahr you are wrong about the worst predictions with no repellant never happened, it did and was abhorrent. I saw it and will never forget it and it should not happen ever again. More possums survived...
