Walking out from duck shooting one day and guy asks if we caught any ducks. My son said "No - I couldn't throw the dog high enough". Absolutely cracked me up. Maybe we need a smaller dog.

About 90km from my place.
Yes - bush hunting for me when in stalk mode, it is bolt closed on a round and safety on. Different for watching a slip etc. or if I was ever lucky enough to hunt above the bush line.
There are thousands of gamebird hunters using semi-autos who rely on a safety on their 12g. Doesn't seem to be a big issue, so why is it different for a rifle? I have a Ruger M77 with the swing...
I picked Woody as being older than that!
When I smell it strong, it's usually a smell of failure!!
Got this fella on Saturday. Saw a couple of others, but they were very spooky, and flushing a couple of hundred metres away.

Because public roads go through some areas, there is plenty of illegal spotlighting going on all year round. Be careful!
Found this fawn there in January, right by the road- in the same place on 2...
Akld/Waikato is closest, and they also closed 5th June, with parries closing this Sunday. Need to shift to CSI I think.
Our duck season finished 5th June, and every day since, there have been flocks of ducks flying over my house, quacking their fool heads off. Ah well - not long to go until next season:oh noes:

Wow! Such awesome footage. I love doing my videos, and I know how hard it is to get everything right. That was fantastic, and way better than shooting another one.
Still have a Remington 1100 12g I bought second hand over 50 years ago. I robbed the gas ring from it last year for my sons 1187, and can't get a replacement anywhere, so have not used it this year.
No - couldn't get plate number. Funny thing is, one of the swan decoys is the original pontoon goose decoy with the shorter thick neck, and is only there because it is BIG. The other one is the...
Yep - had the gas cooker for a cookup of porridge for breakfast, so used the cooker to singe the birds up nice and clean. Aged for a couple of days in the fridge, then vac packed and into the freezer...
Nah - these were just casual drive-ins. We heard a barrage of shots at the other end of the lagoon, and saw a bunch of swan lift off for a couple of hundred metres, so it was probably the same guys....
Only returned fire with a verbal assault Maca49 . Fishing may be a little hohum now mate, although a bait cannon may prove to be interesting!
We checked the decoys, and all the pellets had bounced...
Monday was the last day for ducks here in Eastern F&G. We stayed all day for 7 ducks, but just on evening, we had a ute turn up opposite us. Two guys got out of the ute (which was about 150m away),...
Son and I got 5 Saturday, 3 Sunday morning, and 7 on our last day of the season - Monday. Pic shows what it's all about.
Had a rooster dead to rights at 20 metres, but dogs were on the other side...
Found this (presumed) orphan early January. It was nibbling on leaves etc, so may survive. Photo off my video camera, so not the sharpest image.

Well - you have two choices on pheasants. Slow the dog down, or speed yourself up.
Sometimes I amaze myself with these little pearls of wisdom!!
Not sure what you are specifically issuing an apology for, but I didn't see anything dramatic.
Anyway - thanks to you and any other mods for the work you do.
Two of us accounted for 5 mallies and 1 pheasant on Saturday. On Sunday, this was all we got - no shots fired!!

Went out Tuesday morning and it was very quiet, except for a group of 5 Parries that came in. Only 2 went out, so 3 for 3.

Yep. Found that out a number of years ago - especially later in the season (as much as it is up here). Key is to watch their reaction to the call, and decide what to do then. Opening is a...
