A bargainous way to go lightweight for long walks... would have preferred the wooden version but the price was too good to say no and stainless is practical.
Savage Mod.16 Lightweight Hunter in...
How many people do you think drive around like that? I'm glad that most of us don't have any reason to feel like we need to keep a handgun in our vehicle for personal protection.
Its just another upside-down photo is all.
My blued Savages are certainly a lot more rust-resistant than my blued Ruger.
I didn't know they had rabbits to shoot in Remuera.
Hunting and Shooting...
Careful, some people around here will want to lynch you for suggesting anything could be better than a Tikka!
To be fair, the Axis may be the budget model from Savage but it still has a good reputation for accuracy. Not such a good reputation for being nice rifles, but from what I hear they do shoot straight.
Took it out for a check/sight-in yesterday, still likes the same loads which is handy - shot 6mm group with the 53vmax and 12mm with the 68bthp so I'm happy :D
Had a tinker with the Mk2 BTVS 22 as...
Yip a Savage 14, its a nice rifle - bit heavier than some alternatives but well balanced and confidence-inspiring to fire. Can't blame the rifle when I miss things though!
I agree that a matt...
A bit of quietness for ye olde 223 :)

I guess its for when the bunnies get really up close and personal.
Yip, if it shoots the way it should then I expect I'll be putting putting the Ruger 308 up for sale before too long - no point keeping both of them and I prefer the Savage action.
Yep Savage 14 in 7mm08, hence the latte comment. Paid $460, its practically theft for a rifle that nice! Second hand but in great condition, nicer wood than the Mod 14 223 I already have.
I'm more of a long black than latte drinker, but it was too cheap to say no!

Not a new gun, but shortening + supressing the old 308 seems to have tightened the groups up a tad - shot 12-15mm today with a couple of different loads, down from 20-22mm with the same loads...
Nice! I thought about a BRJ but went for the BTVS instead. :)
Done, my spare scope now has a home. I might buy something nicer for it at some stage though, anyone tried the Nikon Prostaff Rimfire scopes?

Probably a bit late now for sighting in...
They're sitting on carpet? :ORLY:
They were on the bipod when I got it, its an older model Harris ultralight but it was second hand so whether they're original feet or not I don't know.
However did you guess? :P
Mk2 BTVS, pre-loved and in great nick. Been shortened to 17" and threaded, on the heavier side for a 22 but well balanced and sit very nicely on the shoulder :)

New toy just arrived for me... :D
Photos later cos I'm at work trying not to let the boss see me playing with it instead of working (that sounds a little wrong, but hey its a free world right).

There is one on TM in 6.5-284 asking over $3k, but its been there an awfully long time without selling.
Looks much nicer than the plastic ones! :)
Mine is getting on towards 15 years old and still going strong. :)
