The base is pretty thin, obviously to keep weight down, so you have to be pretty vigilant to clear the ground where you're setting up of anything...

That's correct. Roll it up as one, unroll as one and it's basically sealed. Clip poles and peg it. Job done.

I'll try get some assembly photos for you when I get a chance but fly is clipped to main body and then you just clip fly to the external poles....
