golfball sized gongs would be fine for 22LR.

But plenty rubbish golf balls around and can place them on tees, mounted in a piece of 4x2.

Ah, I've played that with a 22 and golf balls at various ranges from 10m to 100m. Great fun if you have a bit of time and space to set it up.
