Went/drove around it between Xmas and New Year to be honest better than when our kids last camped there.
Mind you it was pissing down and those left were the young, money is tight, hunter types that...
That's what I use.
Quilts are marvelous nothing worse than cramping up in a snugged up sleeping bag.
Makes it easier to roll around in the dirt or fall out of the bunk when you are afflicted.
The night must be longer when you get up an hour later if you do not know how to adjust your watch haha
The big clearings aren't exactly clearings anymore.

I am running an Enlightened Equipment quilt rated -17c (which I would take with a grain of salt).
Find I am using a cheap Flames Creed one and it is fine in tents and huts, Ruapehu Huts in October...
Nik Maxwell got the same treatment but you do need to get out of the huts after the chopper has dropped you off.
Latest BRB I watched it appears no one is flying into the huts like Ngawapurua that...
I have one price was right but haven't tested in anger.
Not the latest model a few years old.
The advertising show them sitting in water etc.
Have found zip to be fiddly.
If you want can send it...
Have a look on frugalhiker at the Quilts.

It is/can be pretty exciting regardless of your age.
Day hunts with a workmate week after Easter.
Just local should be able to get him onto something.
Have still got his manual I bet it was the go to start for a lot of us.
He penned many a good guide and reviews.

But in another 30-40 years....
Have 2 fives and 1 ten to cover all bases especially when we did a bit of spotlighting in the past.
But agree, five shot nicer to carry.

I have a Tasco on mine from new late 80s.
You would be surprised how many rifles of that era were fitted with similar.
Money or the lack of it talked.
Back sight removed to allow fit.
This is the ex spreader I noted early.
This sort of wagon could be an option.
Most trucks used as spreaders would be fairly competent offroad.
Others on here will know more about them.
Would have...
Went up 90 mile beach in Cape Runners ex fert truck from memory a converted MAN.
It would have made a good camper too rather than all these old buses running around.
Sell it on here.
Still have and use nz copper one.

Most packs do.
Offset by the sounds of gasping for air and blood pumping futilely.
That is very nice.
I have used the expeds, no problems.
Have old self inflating thermarests use on camp stretchers under mattress's now and they must be 30yrs plus.
Would recommend going to a wide mat for the bit...
