You can buy a couple of good rigs for your budget.
Factory ammo? 308, 6.5 creed or 243 and a 223? Do Belmont ammo still load cheap and good ammo.
I wouldn't get too fussed on dial up scopes....

I would suggest handling a Tikka, bergara b13 and 14, howa 1500 and sabatti rover.
308, 708 or 243.
A Tikka 8twist 243 would be an excellent future proof...
