Finally heard my first roar on the coast yesterday. Bit later than usual but it has been bloody mild. Hopefully by next week it has kicked into gear properly
Also cracking stag. Well done

Jeez thats a good looking stag
"Considering legal action"
I honestly don't understand Forest and Birds reasoning. Seems like anytime they see something constructive being done for conservation in NZ, that is associated with...
Have found the same with the Arthurs Pass/Lewis pass valleys they hunt. Nothing has changed in regard to numbers of people. If anything there are a heap more deer around now than before
I've got a couple of the earlier seasons on dvd from when they used to sell them that way. I'd assume they remove older seasons to allow them to hunt the same or similar spots as say 5 seasons ago....
Good on you. Sounds like a good trip
Good on you for returning it. To many blocks don't get hunted in the end, when I know there are other parties interested in it.
In regards to the wallows. Have seen hinds using them. Especially...
Same as all those blocks along the Haast River. Always a chance at a big one. Not that high in deer numbers, but plenty of bush to hide something mature
What block did you have?
Will take the usual 2 weeks. One in the canterbury high country and one in some South Westland bush. 5th year in a row missing out on a Haast/Wanaka block.
Still hunt the open blocks down there...
Cheers for the offer. I will let you know if I can't sort something in the meantime.
Are you able to go down any old day as a member or do you still have to wait for the member days?
Where does everyone in Chch sight there rifle in?
I was originally down South and so could use the back of farm. Was hoping there might be a range, etc, handy to chch?
Cheers guys. Will give the baking soda a go tomorrow and have another look up the nasal cavity. Thought I had everything from in there but potentially missed something.
Have boiled the shit out of these skulls, given them a power hose and left them to bask in some peroxide from the hairdresser after that didn’t work well enough and still have a faint smell. Any...
Jesus thats a good stag
Ive taken the horn off and boiled both skull and horns as Ive been told. Cut top 3rd off bone under horn as was told before boiling. Power hosed after and everything looks spotless. Just has that...
Wonder how they got on in there with that weather over Friday night. Bloody jealous
So, I've boiled it up and given it a hose down but can't seem to get rid of that faint smell inside the horns and on the skull itself. Have seen some people recommending peroxide? Should i go with...
Went up north canterbury public land on Friday night. Saw one half decent stag but to far with that front that was coming in. Heard a dozen or so different stags roaring but majority of that over the...
Didn’t end up getting out sorry fellas. Ran my race and enjoyed the sun and the Westport night life. Was a great weekend. Cheers
Ah well. Might have a look online and see what I can find. If nothing by tomorrow night I’ll give it a miss. I’ll let you know by Sunday. Thanks
Hey fella’s
Just after some advice on hunting out of Westport. Going over for the weekend and wondering if it’s similar to the further south in terms of reasonable bush for hunting and pockets...
Bloody good
Some big deer
