Fair point & makes sense.
As ive written in previous posts, it is wringing the piss out of it to do those speeds, not arguing that, and i dont run it that hot, it was just speeds observed doing a ladder test, however not...
Interesting one superformance, i spent some time with it in my creedmoor & ended up with wrecked lapua brass in the long run. Ive found RL26 to be better in the creedmoor, i can get to the same speed...
Interesting read. Some of the mentioned loads that have "no signs of pressure" show to be well over pressure when run through GRT. To be fair though GRT isnt always 100% accurate, usually a good...
Do you recall what brass & how many grains of superformance it took you to get there?
Their test barrel is 26". My own 26" didnt even really come close to hornady claims & neither does my 24" even if your generous as far as what you would expect to lose with a 2" shorter barrel.
Understood. Its not so much that i dont understand why it isnt a great deal faster, I for the most part understand the mechanics of it & why its diminishing returns. My gripe was more with hornadys...
GRT shows this aswell, with the slower burning powders velocity is still on a reasonably steep incline by 24-26 inches, shortening a 6.5 PRC hurts the velocity alot more than alot of other cartridges
I assume you mean 48.8gr, that lines up pretty close with what mine does. I run mine back a bit from that though.

Hornady data suggests 3150 with a max load of RL26 behind a 143 eldx. Im yet to see one even come close to that.

It sure does seem that way. From what ive heard so far, velocitys that are in line with what hornady claim seem to be few and far between.

Im talking max on both (pressure showing on brass in both rifles). I run my creedmoor at 2910 with the 143eldx and most of my brass is on its 6th loading now and happy as larry. No doubt its warm but...
What flavour of rifle & what brass? That seems to be crazy fast for 20" barrel & that low of a powder charge.
Browning & Tikka in 6.5 PRC. Tikka with the creedmoor.
Tikka 6.5 PRC 24" does 3050 with the 143 eldx leaning on it pretty hard with RL26.
Tikka 6.5 Creedmoor 24" does 2960 with 143 eldx also...
You must be pushing it pretty hard with some solid brass to be doing that? RL26?
Straight from the hornady manual - "Expect 200-300 fps velocity gains with the 6.5 PRC over standard short-action cartridges like the .260 Remington & 6.5 Creedmoor while still offering a pleasant...
Ive spent a fair bit of time with 6.5 PRC over the last 6 odd months with various powders & projectiles & different rifles & the more go down the rabbit hole with it the more im disappointed with it...
