It gets a bit hard to follow out in the river gravel at points. Snorkel is ideal since you do have to cross the main stream of the Rangitata at one stage but should be fine if you go when flow is low...

Can't drive up Carneys. Can drive up the TR of the Rangitata/Havelock to where Carneys comes into the Havelock. It's normally pretty easy going up to there unless the river is high.
