You only have a problem with ignition when you get down around 5.0 grains of powder, we use to shoot 170 grain cast with 3.5 grains of Red dot with a dacron filler
in .308's in the days before...
Best accuracy with cast is around the 1800-1900fps with the Alloy I use, If I source some antinomy and am super careful 3000fps
is possible it has been done in the US, But they are no good for...
I don't shoot them only have a 44/40 pistol they are to big for that, A mate uses them in an H&R with a 1:38" gets around an 1" groups at 50m.
bigest problem is the bore diameter they vary from...
Right at subsonic velocity sharp pointy boat-tail bullets are useless, If head shots are the order of the day it does not matter what is used,
for sure kills on animals inside 150 metres the bigger...
Why do you want 300grain projectiles? My 280 grain cast bullets will shoot through a pig at 100 metres with a muzzle velocity of 900 fps
and kill them on the spot, another 20 grains won't improve on...
Should work if you chamfer the case mouth, a seperate crimp die is handy I use them on my pistol calibres,
