    I find converting to mkv ( x264) give me the best...

    I find converting to mkv ( x264) give me the best balance of quality and size, I have also had good success with .avi (divx) but have had to tweak settings to optimise quality but needed more messing...

    Have you tried videoredo, used to use it a few...

    Have you tried videoredo, used to use it a few years ago, it handles mos format from memory,
    Adode premier is good also
