Size for size (OD) - no - weaker - negating the effects of the ridges - ie corrugated iron vs flat sheet as an example.
However weight for weight - yes - deff stronger

No - just tring to get my head around a blanket statement telling me that after the blank is profiled/fluted etc, its THEN lapped.
It makes no sense, given the fact you pay a premium from the mfg...

The blanks are lapped in the US before shipped across the world before being touched by Gunsmiths lathe for profiling etc, same with the only local made barrels - Truflight.

Because it would loook FUGLY!
