Those that have an interest in the game may tell you that
Did you get it after 20seconds, or has it taken a week or so to work it out? :O_O: :XD:
All the wank about the 'barrel opening up when fluted' (I've read up to a couple 1/10s thou?) where no...
:super:
Right - time for me to start drinking - you've driven me there........
You have no conception of apple and apples
I'm done.
You drinking still?? :yaeh am not durnk:
Buy a 10lb blank - decide you want it finished ~4lb
2 options - thin contour or larger contour + fluted
This may be more painful than pulling your own...
ding!!!
Never have I said anywhere stiffness was ADDED to the barrel, its a comparision between equals (weight for eg)
Are you drinking?? :yaeh am not durnk:
Go through and read your posts again and the replies
Back to the whole point - weight for weight, size for size, apples and apples,
If you have 4lbs...
You're missing the point BIGTIME Wirehunt
Direct comparisons in size or weight
Depends if you;re right of left handed :D
Only if the can doesnt blow up
5x5 on 12.5mm is over 10% increase in strength.
I'll disagree with you an leave it at that as we're getting nowhere
Size for size (OD) - no - weaker - negating the effects of the ridges - ie corrugated iron vs flat sheet as an example.
However weight for weight - yes - deff stronger
I've make a cockup with my post last night :O_O:- that data is for comparable minimum diameter between the 2, not weight - thats the other paperwork scribbles.
Will change it so it reflects, and...
A different example was being made Greg, a reality check maybe - I'll leave for a while before explaining if its required - nothing to do with you though - so no need to stress :)
I'm a straight...
Not so - I've been working on something for a little while - got enough done to summarise here. albiet it may not make much sense to those that havnt done a Eng deg dealing with the theory.
This...
So basically, as a 'gunsmith', best results are gained from buying a pre profiled and lapped barrel from the mfg and screwing it on - I'm sorry, but that doesnt make you a guns smiths arsehole, it...
No - just tring to get my head around a blanket statement telling me that after the blank is profiled/fluted etc, its THEN lapped.
It makes no sense, given the fact you pay a premium from the mfg...
The blanks are lapped in the US before shipped across the world before being touched by Gunsmiths lathe for profiling etc, same with the only local made barrels - Truflight.
Because it would loook FUGLY!
My factory fluted barrels are all deep - profile makes difference to depth
I've brought a few custom lapped barrels (Shilen, Truflight)- always supplied as a...
18mm on a 20mm I think is too big.
That only leaves at best 1mm shoulder to pull the device up against.
5/8 x 24 is a better size
I thnk that spring from diameter change in a barrel is negliable...
