just a point that if you are using polystyrene (and some other foam insulation) DO NOT ever use standard tps wiring as after a few years the insulation degrades.

your pick really. alloy is lighter. steel is stronger. fi-glass is available in sheets and then use matting and resin for corners and joins.
i would be going fi-glass for the outer shell.
