I got just over a kilo at the Kakanui river mouth this moring, only been out 3 times this season for over 6kg's so I'm happy.

I have had a couple of goes on the Moeraki river also known as the blue river up from Haast, did really well on one occasion.

Thanks Trout, yep Waitaki mouth, only 2 of us there this morning.

1.2 kg's this morning scooping in the surf, back at the carpark by 7am and then dropped into work for an hour.

Yeah Maca I got to the mouth at low tide and had to go out front because there was about 60 people there.

I did the first 4 hours of incoming tide then called it a day.

I had the wetsuit on and...

I don't know of anyone who uses chives when cooking whitebait, having said that you Chinese people sure know how to cook a good feed so I would be willing to try your recipes.

Yeah the season on the east coast runs from the 1st Sep through until the end of October, what part of the country are you visiting?
