Or okahu valley campsite. Nice camping road end and just hunt the valley sides. Couple of Creek heads about. Just stay out of the creek beds.

Head up the kaimai's up wairere falls. Lots of clearings about. And hard to get lost as quite flat up the top. Go very slow and be quiet. 2 steps 2 minutes looking.
