Ha Ha yes indeed, I actually just tried to replace my broken rod and the new one is the exact same blank but the smaller rings so sort of a forced upgrade rather than chasing the bling.
The new thing now is very small stripper rings as it is less casting friction to just pull all that looping line in on the first ring instead of gradually over multiple rings dropping in size.

Yes it seems retarded to switch hands from casting to winding.
One of the reasons I like spin rods is it is so simple to swap sides with the handle.
