I can testify to the edge retention of the small folding Eka knifes.
As far as factory knives go (and Im a long way off testing all of em ) they seam very good so far

In fact it is more often one grade steel folded many times to remove impuritys and more importantly to align its grain structure,...

I have a bit of a OCD thing on things that cut being sharp(hangover from my other trade)
I love HARD steel blades, most commercial knives are pretty soft.
