Hunt anywhere other than Taranaki. There's a couple of very small pockets of deer on public land in Taranaki but you'll have more luck hunting another region

It was well and truely passed out sunbathing haha. We always have a good laugh that Janny went and brought a heap of the fancy (new at the time) Stoney Creek Sisterhood gear. Wore it all week then...
That certainly brought back some fantastic memories of that block! You did well, it was hard going in that snow piled on top of the scrub. I think the few of us that got to hunt it were pretty...
Even 17gr V-Max’s from a 17hmr smokes them, they’re not much different from a rabbit or hare

Sako851 I’d actually cut my pack liner up and we used it as a ground sheet but when it started snowing I put it on top of us and I think it was just enough to stop us getting worse.
Tried to get as...
This just a copy and past from my Facebook post a couple of years ago, a bit of a misadventure with the girlfriend:
Here's a few details for those of you who'd heard we'd activated the PLB over...

Lots of warm gear. Ice axes and crampons would also be a good idea, you may not need them but there’s a high chance there will be a fair bit of snow around by then.
I’ve hunted the Rangitata a...
$380 from memory, theres a lot of work involved in tanning a bull tahr as their hides are so thick. Generally takes 4-6 months depending on how much sun he gets so they can cure, plenty of time to...
Turners tannery in Leeston do such a good job for a decent price it's almost not worth the hassle. Baking soda and kerosene is the old school way of doing it though, cheap and comes out alright
Agreed, hopefully in the future organisations like the NZGAC has a much stronger voice to protect the fantastic hunting opportunities we have here
Hi guys, Luke here
Originally from Taranaki but moved to Canterbury for the mountains and hunting opportunities a few years ago
Mostly hunt alpine as I can't stand bush stalking
