Everywhere I have to hunt close to home is wide open country but I have the rem mag.
It will be good test the whole rifle configuration out first before I go and re-barrel it.
So the end result was a visit to my local smith.
Rifle getting a DPT overbarrel in 6.5 fitted on the 17.5" barrel, the S&B stuck on top and I left with brass and projectiles to muck around...

This will be like my old 6.5x47 Sako, but better and more beautiful.
But just sticking an ordinary can on it and using it as is will do.
For the record, because we did it successfully years ago by screwing a Tikka barrel into a Mark 1 tang safety, you can actually use a Ruger barrel as well.
I'm genuinely not fussy if it does the job it's meant to do.
I shot some factory cheap arse ammo through it on hares and they took multiple rounds. Put me off.
