Haven't had a chance to do any more load developement, gonna hold off at the moment with powder getting hard to come by
162gn eldm and adi 2225 powder with norma brass and cci large rifle magnum primers, have shot 4 deer now with that load from 150 yards out to 370yards so not really a test but all have been bang...
can't say I've ever noticed any difference at all ?

So the berger 168gn VLDH didn't shoot better than 1 moa or there abouts but I was pretty lazy and just seated them all at the same depth then just did a ladder of different charge weights so serves...
Totally, I have started at 15thou off the lands and will see how that goes, if no joy then i will go the full seating depth test.

Have now dropped 3 reds with the 162eldm and all 3 were bang flops 2 through the shoulder and 1 through the neck all at 200 yards give or take, pretty pleased with them.
I have however had the house...
Time to load up some hunting ammo but I'll be shooting ducks for the next few weeks, possibly head up Kaikoura after that.

Have loaded up five in each of the charge weights listed above will shoot them in the morning to see which is most consistent speed and grouping and run with that.
Shot my ladder today and have included my best 3 loads here.
First pic 2 shots @ 100cyards gave 2965fps and 2929fps
Second pic 2 shots @ 100 yards gave 2974fps and 2970fps

My personal preference for a long range hunting rig is to be able to mag feed as I can rack the bolt faster than I can single feed if a follow up is required.
Nothing wrong with single shot hunting...
