I think your question has merit. Did you mean what attitudes a true hunter has? In other words what kind of character?
If you meant discipline, restraint, patience, respect for his or her quarry,...
Perhaps it might be helpful to frame the question in terms of what a true hunter is not.
For example, a true hunter is not somebody who shoots an animal to bits for fun.
