Ruahine auction is 7th September. No dates for a wellington auction as yet - they seem to be having teknical difficulties. No one seems to have taken over Teds auction either.

Yes, the 8x58RD is a bit tubbier than most. It also has a fairly long neck, so cases coming up a bit short isnt the end of the world. Theres some info on the net about making cases for 8x58RD from...
Theres .318 bullets as well, from old german thingys around, ive still got some i think.
Woodleigh do a .318, but i may have some .318 cast gas checked still. how many times does old mate need to...

Had a go at loading some 1895 Nagant rounds. a mashup of M1 carbine, 32S&WL and 7.62 tokarev dies and we have potentially viable results
Wow. So thats what a properly flattened primer looks like.
I saw...well... i was there when a Husqvarna let go on the range less than 2 years ago, blowing the action apart and launching the bolt...
I miss the old cat, scratchy bitey thing she was but to her eternal credit she generally left the birds alone and went after tougher prey. At least 2 weasels and innumerable rats to her credit, and...
heres the original info FYI

Fought this problem for a while - have worn glasses since about age 5 or 6 (bad astigmatism / short sighted). never knew otherwise. Went to progressive glasses around age 40 as vision deteriorated...
Another factor not yet touched on - Even if the bullet itself is travelling at just slightly less than the speed of sound, aka transonic, the air pushed aside may be momentarily forced to break the...
Haha - i was tapping out my post over coffee while thinking exactly the same thoughts
I think M-H is on the money - those lead bullets are probably expecting to see 1600 fps. With a generous burn of 2208 youre probably spraying near-molten lead out the end of the mosin at 3000 fps....

This.... i refinished a couple mosins with shellac, although from memory i used alcohol (meths) as the solvent for the shellac flakes. Wiped most of the old finish off with alcohol in the bathtub,...
Absolutely not! Completely different.
Seems likely that if the bolt was opening from the chamber pressure then it would have been a much more exciting event youd be talking about.
This is theoretical - but it seems plausible that the...
This may help - a considerable portion of the resistance to your initial bolt movement is due to resetting the hammer. Compare cycling the bolt by hand with the rifle cocked / uncocked.
Other...
used ADI 2206H, but my 'light loads' were 80gr projectiles at ~3000fps, not quite the same application. ADI say 2206H can be downloaded to 60% as a guide - dont know if that would be subsonic or not.
If youre considering small bore shooting with a 10/22, which is more automated and less 'refined'....ah...expensive than the usual small bore apparatus, you could consider the service rifle group...
Shower thoughts have turned to the same idea - necking up 17wsm to 20 or 22. A 20wsm seemed like a good idea - the 40gr .20 projectile at 2800fps would be worth a look. plus you could use it in a...
Theres a culture of 'how can i make something to do that?' here, whereas i think the overseas, particularly the USA thought process is more only 'what can i buy?'
A bit of play in the diff isnt necessarily an issue. Ive seen some that manage at least a half turn of one wheel before all the slack gets taken up and the other starts moving - check that it moves...
BBTI - Ballistics by the Inch :: .22 Results
the short answer is yes - the hearsay about .22s slowing down in the barrel after optimum is just hearsay, or only to a tiny degree, even with .22cb....
Can you shoot .32H&R through it ok? i can help with that
I was going to try 700X and WAP - because thats what ive got and a small dose of fast burning powder looks like the go for these. I havent started yet because ive still got a couple hundred rounds of...
There was a time, about 15 years ago, when a suprising statement came out of Police HQ that 'overall length' would be measured in with the stock in the open or extended position. This was generally E...
