Fellas wondering if either of these two projectiles are available over your way?
135grain speer gold dot hollowpoint
125 grain remington golden sabre
Not at 50+ yards it isnt
head shooting ihas its place, including with 22LR. Idea of this project is something to stick into a pigs lungs or chest before it buggars off in the spotlight. 22WMR can work but is marginal and not...
Good point Bill about accuracy. Lever actions are what they are and I am guessing with subsonics a few grains of powder rattling about a case as large as the 44 mag and low pressure, doesnt improve...
been there , with eveything from 375H&H down to 22LR (lol) .
Trying to get my head around what the advantage is of the 45-70 hardcast using such a heavy bullet at the same speeds is though....
They were impressive. A couple of questions, Im wondering the advantage of a 45-70 with heavy subsonic bullets over say a 44 mag or 45 colt with 240-250 grain bullets. They all cut right through...
id like to get a load accurate enough with scope too to about 75m. Trajectory will just scrape in with the right zero, wondering how accuracy will go if I tweak enough bullets and powder types... 6"...
Thanks for the post mate. Just wondering though regards all that and your buddies are they using supressors for the 44's? I cant use one here. I just had to clarify ,being you guys have better...
As you say, I cant supress anyway, so getting rid of the sonic boom is not as important as just reducing the noise generally. For the record I am reducing blast for my dogs ears, as much as possible....
Also how is accuracy with such light low pressure loads?
Was thinking about a 44 mag or 44-40 lever action loaded down with cast bullets for pigs at 30-75 yards. Cant user supressors here in the Republic of Australia-stan, after something still a bit less...
Hopefully subsonic products will develope more. Regards the 220 grain nosler .308 sub, there was a multipage thread on enoughgun.com and the bullet did not get great reviews. In fact one of the...
71, inspirational!
This. I got the exact same. Start with the lower price stuff and work up, you might get lucky and not have to use the more expensive stuff. I found SK pretty good, I believe its the same product...
Thanks fellas I ended up ordering him a caldwell( I think) recoil shield, one of the ones you wear across the shoulder. I explained some of the theory of recoil, lighter bullets, heavier gun etc but...
Fellas anyone know any good options in the above. Looking to give an old shooter returning to the sport one for christmas. He was getting bruised with some load development of a 270win at the bench....
Here a few guys are using thermal monoculars to spot game, then walk up and snapshoot it with a spotlight or NV scope. I was thinking of getting one myself but being in tropics where the heat and...
I think as Marty says the issue is not heating causing erosion, its the plasma effect of the superheated gases. I dont think a thicker barrel will help much with this.
:P
Ill play devils advocate same as I did when I first saw them almost 15 years ago. He crafted a niche market selling heavy, nauseatingly over decorated, royally overpriced gimmicks to idiots. If I won...
Fellas just wondering if anyone could weigh in on the accuracy of their gun, if they own one of these. I am particularly interested in accuracy of the delisle style carbines. We have a couple of...
Knowing which particular bow might help answers. I shoot with a matrix 380 which is a 260lb draw weight recurve. My advice for crossbows is try and find the most proven reliable designs whether...
Ive never annealed but remember in the day folks using lead baths to do so. Aka lead melted in a pot. The idea was placing the case mouth down to required depth in that would provide more uniform...
Anyone use one of these for camping, road trips, hunting etc? I need to get a 4wd version for work of some brand or another, and wondered how well they can combine recreational tasks? Obviously a...
