    ''STUG-ed'' again!

Just thought I share a couple pics of a new STUG stock now adorning my 7mmWSM.

I like a matt finish so I rubbed it down with wet & dry sandpaper soaked in dishwashing soap, this gives a nice dull finish to the stock. It doesn't look as flash now, because the carbon weave doesn't stand out as much, but its done for practical reasons, just like bead blasting stainless so it doesn't glint in the sun too much.

Anyway - enough writing, time for some pics:

It wont look this good for too long though as this rifle gets used a lot, so next time it appears in a photo is will be scratched and marked up...but that's what they're for eh!

Many thanks Stu, you make a nice product and at 592grams including bedding and a limbsaver recoil pad, its gotta be one of the lightest stocks on the market.

Haha, just in the process of putting that on now. Having a coffee break and then I'll get on to it.

Good stuff Nick, and good idea - any other STUG stocks out there, put your pics up on here.

I would think so, they are all very similar. This style is the grind to fit Limbsaver brand, Stu fitted it as part of the stock (he gives you a couple options when you specify your requirements). Limbsaver claims that the ''felt recoil'' is reduced by up to 70% Limbsaver 2011 - Recoil Pads but I wouldn't go that far with my own claims...but they are still very good. That along with a muzzle break make recoil a non issue.

I only had half a dozen bullets at home with me, so did a quick sight in at 100m (the benefits of living in the country) off the front lawn.

I aimed at the right hand point on the diamond and fired 2 shots - Fuck! I didn't even hit paper, or so I thought? My mate then says, nah its an inch low and half an inch left. I can't see the holes myself but adjust as he says

Turns out to be a little lower than he said - but hey, I didn't even see the holes

So I adjust and fire another two shots, aiming at the right hand point of the diamond again. This time I can see the holes and they are a touch low, but windage is fine.

looking good, just a little low

So I quick adjust it up and use my final 2 shots to confirm. Looks good to me, so the bedding job must be spot on and all is working pretty well...happy as!

    [/I]On the money![/I]

Don't worry Gimp, I'm not claiming 0.0002'' ''2-shot'' group status, the only reason I used two shots for each target was because that's all the ammo I had with me.

This is the other STUG stocked weapon I have, basically the bigger brother to this one.

I put more time into the finish on this stock using the same wet sanding routine, but I put in a lot more attention to detail. On the WSM I know its going to get a much harder life so I only did enough to remove the gloss.
