    stevens 200 Stock universality

hey, I got myself a stevens 200 in 308 for a steal, but of course found out instantly that the stock is absolute shite.

As far as replacements, will stocks for other savage bolt actions or even other brands' bolt action centre fire rifles be applicable
    to it?

I can do minor modifications to make one work if anyone can give me a lead

    thanks

I think anything for Savage Mod.10 family should fit. Just make sure you're getting the short action version (ie for Mod.10 not 110).

Are the Stevens blind mag, floorplate or drop box? Pay to make sure the stock is for the right mag type too.

Boyds are good and solid and probably the cheapest option, will increase the weight a bit if thats an issue but not ridiculously so.

You order one from here and wait a couple of weeks... Boyds:

They have different versions for centrefeed and staggered feed blind mag, so worth checking which yours is too. The also give dimensions between screws etc so you can really make sure you're getting the right one. I like the look of these:

Boyds: PH STEVENS 200 TBR BLIND MAG SA CNTF FBC NL F Prairie Hunter

A quick google gives the following distances between action screws if you want to check whether to get the staggered or centre feed. Numbers from some US forum:

4.275" Staggered feed short action Savage or Stevens
4.40" Centerfeed action Savage or Stevens
4.5" Staggered feed intermediate action Savage or Stevens
5.06" Staggered or Centerfeed long action Savage or Stevens
