    load help

So a mate has decided to go down the rabbit hole, Im hoping some of you may be able to help, hes reloading for 7mm08 with 139grn sst and has bought AR2207, he cant seem to find any reloading data for this combo.I know it is similar to H4198 but cant seem to find any data for that as well, any suggestions on load min and max?
If it helps he's shooting a Tikka with a 20'' barrel
    thanks in advance

AR2207 is the same powder as H4198 so any data found should match exactly. Maybe AR2207 is a little fast burning for that bullet weight ... ?? Maybe something slightly slower burning might work better. Not a calibre I shoot so will defer to other experts here.

Id think 2208 powder would be the better option

AR2207 is not listed for any bullet weight for the 7mm08 on the ADI website, same for H4198 on the Hodgdon website, so I would assume it's not really suitable for 7mm08 (or other powders are a lot better).

Or even 2209 would be my pick, 2207 is way to fast even in a short barrel.
Check ADI data. Data – Rifle – ADI World Class Powders and Ammunition

Ive been combing the ADI and Hogdon wedsites and came up with the same conclusion,Even ran it through the Gordons app and came up with unsuitable loads.I use 2208 with good results so hopefully my mate can change his order before gunworks ship it

If 2208 is not available 2206h works well in cartridges from .222 to 30/06

Mate loads 49gns of 2209 for the 139SST and gets 2900fps. Think 2209/4350/4451 would be much more suitable than 2207.

yes AR2208 or it's twin Varget. I loaded this for a hunting mate with the 139 SST's.
or H4350 or Reloader RL16 or if you can find it Staball 6.5.

42-42.5gr 2208 is your friend with the 139 and 140gr projectiles right upto the 162gr.

What made him pick AR2207? It's completely the wrong powder for a 7mm08. Much too fast burning.

There will be "an amount" which would be ok to use. But it's going to be small. And it won't give nearly as good velocity as something like AR2206H, AR2208, AR2209 etc...

ADI know this - which of their powders will work acceptably for a particular job and which ones won't. Obviously it's not worth anyone's time developing data if it's only going to give poor performance at best (and be dangerous at worst). So no AR2207 data for 139gr 7mm08 - and you cannot will it into existence either

Not sure how to edit my post.
But that power charge was only ment for the 139-140gr projectiles not the 162

ADI lists IMR 4198 as an equivalent as well and my Lyman manual has got data for a 135 grain cast and 160 grain cast with IMR 4198 in 7mm08.

Very low charge weights, he's obviously not planning on shooting cast boolits so a bit irrelevant nevertheless, if he wants data for casts, here you go.

I can sell him all the cast bullets he needs if he wants to shoot it up, 2207 is great for cast nullets
