For all the Sako sluts ( read wannabe Blaser owners )

Just assembled last night after Mil-spec painting.

    Sako 75 Varmint .308

    Action trued
Bolt fluted and half cock mod
    TRG brake
    HRE Magnum can, .338 cal.
    NearMfg 10 MOA rail
    NearMfg mount
    Senator SLR stock

Built as a cheap to run gong and paper rifle.

I'll probably shoot it on Saturday, then sell it minus the PMII and mount, but with the rail, brake, and can.

I bought the Vanguard for $530, and had it delivered straight to Gunworks for a chop to 20", threaded and fluted. Meanwhile the Boyds stock was on its way, and Brian bedded it for me. Slammed a VX2 3-9 on top and here's the finished product. My original intention was to barrel it to .284, but it was starting to get a bit expensive so I stuck to the original calibre and barrel.

No special reason for doing it except I've always wanted to try a thumbhole stock, and now that I've got a sore wrist after busting it in the bush I thought I would see if its easier to hold. Its turned out that it hasn't made much difference but at least getting it set up with a load will be a bit of fun. Will probably shoot a deer with it and it will go into the back of the cupboard. I'm aiming to get 2900fps with a 130 grn projectile.

quickload tells me you should follow the standard procedure for any medium sized hunting cartridge: jam the case full of 2209 with a heavy bullet (in this case a 150, for around about 2800 and change)

I start to love that ammo!
And this one scoffs that and loves it as well..

What does quickload tell you I will get using Hybrid 100v, 'cos thats what I've got.
    I've got 130 and 140 grn projectiles.
Are you serious about using 150 grn?

not ideal but ~53gr max for ~2750

I'm always serious about using heavy bullets, but 130/140 fine

    approx 55-56 for max for 130, 2900+

    Hey Happy,
If you had used the right can you would not have had to chop that front end;-) what speed do you get for the 130's? I have not chronoed mine yet.

Had a Maximus custom built for it. I wanted it short . Zero recoil and pretty quiet . Have nt meausured speed yet either . Its had only 20 or so rounds through it
and is accurate as so far and soooo easy to shoot .. Been too busy with other stuff and our range we use may close soon till end of May due to being next to my mates duck pond ha ha ..
He doesn't want us scaring then away. Puts that whole 1/2 farm out ..

My A7 that I never sold. Got the chop and a can and a new scope up top. Nikkon monarch 2-8 of another rifle. Havnt had anything to do with them before but seems on par with my vx3.
