Has anyone shot the Spartan bipods at 500 odd yards, wondering about shot to shot repeatability as far as accuracy is concerned?

NZ Hunter crew use spartons and 500 yard shots happen plenty on the show

Of all of the "accessories" Ive owned over many years, these things are the most easiest lost. They work well though if it happens to be locatable when you need to take a shot.

I’ve shot plenty of deer off one, out to 575 yards. I’ve got one bipod but mounts on a .260, .308, .284 and 300RUM.

Even with the big banger it goes well but they take a bit of getting used to, they’re vastly different from other bipods; don’t expect them to be the same as other bipods. They’re amazing light, don’t catch on everything like a fixed bipod, they have good tilt capability and are quite compact.
They’re not as stable as some bipods and the earlier models, that don’t have the folding lock, close when you reposition your rifle sideways. Once you get used to all that you can manage it.

I like the look of the MTN ones. I don’t like the idea of rail on every rifle (now that I’ve gone Spartan) and I certainly don’t like the price!!

If I started again, I’d probably go MTN.

I’ve kept my Harris Bipod of Death, as it’s handy to have a bipod that can instantly go on any rifle. On that topic can I urge readers to never buy a Harris clone, they’re rubbish and very, very frustrating; unless you hunt once a year.

    :-)

The other thing with a spartan or "tikka/spartan" is the temporary/removable mounts are not that flash and tends to slip or move when loaded up. You either need to permanently mount the temporary mount by glueing or adding a second screw or get a gunsmith adapter and either bed it into your stock or get someone else to. The gunsmith adapters are my preference as they are lower profile and once fitted they are very very solid.

.....Empirical evidence suggests Tikka bolts are easily lost, not sure how or why, or whether they are more easily lost than a bipod - I'm sure there's a study on the forum somewhere?

Yep the flush mount adaptors are great, one on each rifle, bipod in belt pouch always with you no matter which rifle you take for a walk
