That will be a bloody nice rifle i bet.
What ever I get iwould like the 10 mag capacity as an option.
I know the pmags work well in my 2 short action tikkas so leaning that way.
They are a factory rifle and that is what I stick to these days as never had .much luck with semi custom rifles as always so.ething not perfect!

1-8 is really a bit slow for 88's, it might work but it may not, 1-7 works, & the 90 A-Tip is an awesome bullet if you want a bit more BC than the 88

You really need a 22 Creedmoor, job done

I have heaps of good brass and lots of cheaper stuff I can use when the grass is long.
I will see what plays out flicking these other rifles.
My mate has a hardy 1-7 on his shooting 88g and it's pretty impressive!
Atips are bloody good but prohibitively priced when going through a few of them.
Over 800 goats down next door and getting to the stage of some long range work as getting a bit cunning now!

My brother has a browning abolt which has been fitted with a ruger m77 barrel (ex 223 reamed to 22-250)
It’s 1-9 twist and shoots like a demon like 1/2” with factory sako ammo
    Original
Plan was to load the 65gn game king… but haven’t bothered so far the sako 55gn soft point has been absolutely smashing stuff
Hes fired 11 shots hunting so far with 11 bang flops like proper no steps taken bang flops
Granted a few of them were head shots but the sholder shots have gone down just as quick
    Shots from 10m to 350m

22 Creedmoor would be epic. I found 22-250 wouldn’t stack in an AICS mag if that’s a factor you’d consider.

I know Bergara's B14 in 22-250 is a 1:9" twist. Plenty for 69gr - maybe 75gr at a push with the extra speed (I wouldn't count on it though). Others may be catching up by now and releasing faster twists - dunno, haven't researched that far.
My Bergara shoots the 75g no problem at all

sierra make a good light .257 round that would do same job your current 22-250 will still do the job of the other two you are hoping to replace with ease and at no added expense.... it sounds like you are trying to make it creap into replacing the other two as well......

    I'm trying to replace a 204 a 223 and a 1-12 22-250.
I'm thinking the 25-06 as a dedicated thermal rig with quick detach as i know they work when taking them on and of for spotting then shooting.

understand..but what Im saying is the 22-250 already replaces the 223 and the 204 to some degree.....by going heavier with the 22-250 you are actually stepping into new territory and leaving all three behind......and nipping into 25-06 range...where as if you keep .22-250 as it is you still running moderately cheap rounds (55grn easy to get too and pretty much anything works Vs expensiver heavier pill) and still have the bigger brother cartridges for the other jobs.....or to put it another way...what will the 6.5x55 do if you have a 22-250 throwing 88grn projectiles??? but its your money and you only person who knows what your needs are.
bet you bought 223 as figgured the cheaper rounds were a great idea???
once its gone, your into more costly rounds fullstop...MAYBE running fast twist .223 to chuck heavier projectiles while still being able to handle cheaper bulk amunition might be a financially more sound option????

Ahh, as a serial reloader there I'm not to worried about ammunition .
More to the point for Me is the old adage of , beware of the man with one rifle.
It sums up what I'm thinking as far as rationalizing weapons systems you understand and know and use well for my target species.
Really the problem is my safe is running out of room!

So it is another safe you need to buy before buying another rifle :-)
