yeah that was mine... being a gun botherer I only sold it to get a Blaser... never would have othertwise... it was superb..

nowt much tween 6.5x47, 260 Rem, 6.5x55, 6.5 Creedmore..., if you have one you don't need another

the 47 gets a little more pressure because of case construction (small primer) which almost makes up the difference on the larger capacity rounds.

I went to 6.5x55 in the Blaser, which works just as well...

the 47 is probably the best choice overall in a conventional bolt action... short action, excellent feeding, small primer and more COAL to work with for long pills.. brass is cheaper now, but only available in Lapua

now that Blaser are making the 47 barrels I would have done that, but having the 55 makes it unnecessary..

In a modern rifle, how fast can you push a 6.5x55? Would it not be the fastest in speed potentially out of all of them?

Dunno if a standard x55 would be the fastest out of all of them.
I comfortably get 3020 out of my .260 improved with 129-130 weight bullets and get say 8-9 turns out of the brass.
2950 with 140 Amax and berger but never really went with that weight bullet.

I dont want to wade in when i dont have one but dont read to much into it ! We all know the 303 Brit has shot every thing in NZ from Moose in Dusky - rabbits on farmland. The truth is most of us need ( sorry, want ) something better, different, faster, slower, shit just something else.
I shot a mates 6.5x47 on rabbits once (twice) one at 365yds and one at 505yds, both one shot splats ! I stopped shooting before i missed and proved it was a far better shooter than i was

It really depends on the bullet weights you want to shoot. 6.5x47 lap is fine with 120 - 130 gr bullets, but really struggles to push 140 grainers or heavier to a decently velocity especially if you are running an short barrel. The creedmore, 260 or 6.5/284 are better with heavier bullets.

Nope it's fine with 140s and almost identical to .260/6.5CM
