    Helping a few mates out....

Have been getting onto a few deer lately and being a new forum.... I figured I would get the ball rolling and put up the first report.

I have a few mates that have indicated they would be keen on some sausages and patties if I ever shot an 'easy one'. This was reason enough for me to head out and shoot a young animal if one presented itself. No way in hell was I shooting anything of considerable size.

It was about 4.30pm and I was feeling pretty bored and with the sun well and truly out and about - I gave Raging Bull a text and sure enough - he was keen.

Fast forward to about 7.30pm and we were overlooking a promising gully on the property. We had only been glassing for about 20 minutes when Raging Bull spotted a deer well and truly hidden having a mid afternoon snooze. We could only see the front third of the animal and were unsure of its size.... after ten minutes of deciding if we wanted to shoot this guy or wait and see what else would present itself.

The decision was made - I would take the shot. We ranged the deer at 220 yards and I dialed in whilst Raging Bull set up the video camera.

    The result.

Nice one Pop Shot, Sambar are on my to do list at some stage, not too fussed on the antlers but would be good to tick the species off and hunt some new country.

Good to get a easy one every now and then. Good shooting on your part, slotted in the bottom of the neck.

We should convince Dale to start making venison pies as well as venison-sausage rolls...

    Cheers mate.

Yep me too - still to tick them off - taken enough photos of them out and about but never squeezed off on one. Would have to wait till the freezer gets some room in it though - and not too keen to shoot over the summer - gets too hot too quickly putting too much pressure to get the meat into a chiller really quickly - and the blowies seem able to fly at 70kmh on the warm days too maybe in late March
