    Garmin Rinos?

Can anyone who currently is using Garmin Rinos offer advice whether I should go down the rino track?
Currently using separate GPS and radios and cant help but feel rino might be a better option?

Thought about rhinos and ended up with an inreach, reason being that i do most of my hunting solo. Guess if you have a few mates you go out with regularly the rhinos would be the better option

I sold my separate radio and GPS for a Rhino.
They are ok I just have to work out how to stop them making a stupid noise Everytime I call on the radio.
But you need your mates to have them also to get full use out of them.

I have a rhino 650. The interesting situation I have is that my 1 watt handheld radios seem to work better and way easier than the rhino. Perhaps a tuning issue I admit.
    Brilliant tool for GPS

Let’s be clear, they do NOT replace a PLB, particularly if you’re going solo, or are in gnarly country. I always have my PLB on me

bought them and sold them pretty quickly.

you need two units (one to lend to a mate) for them to function properly which gets pretty expensive

as with all UHF radios they hate hills and forests which is where most of us hunt

    they are big and heavy

When the 650s were on sale a few years ago four of us bought one each. It is great when hunting the same catchment to be able to watch on a map where the boys are. For this reason alone they are a very good safety tool. This means if plans change, you don't end up with the situation where two people are hunting the same ridge. Shoot a large animal and want a hand to carry it back to the hut? easy one call and your mate heads straight for you (after much bribery or threats).
Radio is handy and for us works well but not as good as seeing your mates on the map. As said they are not a PLB still carry one.

Personally, I would rather have a separate uhf and GPS so that if one craps out, at least you can get yourself out of a spot.
If a Rhino craps out, you now have neither coms or electronic navigation, and if like many I know, you dont carry map, it could get interesting

Just to clarify guys, already have a separate plb.
Was thinking the ability to see your buddy's in the same area would be useful.

Yip they are great for that as long as your mates buy one as well.
