Those notices are not legal, as DoC do not have any land, it is public land managed for us Kiwi's by DoC....."erected illegally on DoC land"......... I can fully understand DoC's reasoning for removing some of the huts, but the bulk of the huts shown in the video have never been an issue, are not an eyesore on the landscape, and well used by hunters. Leaving the only public hut in the area for trampers and bikers etc.

For which DOC collect the rental........................makes you wonder. Take away all other options and leave only one they collect "fees" for.

All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

I have a hut in the Rimutakas - we went through a big battle with DOC but now have licences until 2050

Suggest you contact the Orongorongo Club (orongorongoclub.org.nz) they will be able to give you a lot of valuable information.

Can you give it a rest about the Game Council.
Your local or regional council is probably who you should talk to about dwellings on public land.

sorry a District Council or a Regional Council have very limited legal powers on Public Conservation land - the only exception would be a public road - possibly building code- here that would not work in ones favour - no Act party perhaps - in this one sadly the hunter has few friends

So why don't you give us a big spiel about them being useless like you do at every opportunity about the Game Council?

because councils - its not their job - I cant understand why you would think it is - they have no role whatsoever in terms of Recreational Hunting or Recreational activities on Public conservation land- they may well though have a role in huts not up to building code being used by public - The GAC is tax payer funded to have a say in cases like this and pass on hunters views to the Director General - simple as that
