    did catch a fawn on its own and a hind with fawn in tow on video but no good photo of either

    Yep. That is rye neck.

    I've only ever seen it in live captured deer. The odd one would get so stressed and possibly dehydrated that their neck muscles would contract and they'd end up with a kinked neck and head on the side.

    I had a hind like that we called Loopy. She had about 10 fawns and as quiet as. We used her to run with the weaners.

    As one eye always looked skyward she developed a cataract on one eye.

    We always gave deer a drench of selenium and electrolites as soon after capture as possible to combat stress.
