    150 Eldx in 7mm?

Hi all, any experience with these 150ís in the 7mm? Do they appear tough enough on deer. I have been told a few stories re blow up with the 162 but I have had only good experiences with now plenty of only one shot kills from 90 to 300m.
Wanting to load for mine and a mate so to keep it all standard and I canít magazine load in his.

if you arent looking to shoot waaaay out there, why would you????
surely the std cup n core projectiles, tried n proven are a cheaper option that will remove the above dought from equasion.

not knocking the AMAX...or what ever its called now,but it is the darling of the long range brigade whos impact velocities are getting down ,waay down in some cases so the ultra soft projectiles shine......asking it to preform at magnum velocities could be asking for trouble.....going heavier rather than lighter would make more sense to me.

They work well in the 7mm 08. I have loaded them up for my 7 mm Mag but yet to shoot an animal with that load yet. My rifle didn't shoot the 162 gr eld x that well so 1 changed to the lighter bullet. I loaded them to 2700 fps in the 7mm 08 and 3050 fps in 7mm mag so there is quite a difference in speed, hope they hold together ok.

They work really well in my 708 at 2770fps, have shot a few deer out to 350yds and a cham at 260, bang flops, and pass throughs, good amount of damage nothing like a berger from a magnum from my previous experiences, i will be sticking with the 150 eldx moving forward, really rate it so far.

They went well in my 7mm08 as has the 162 ELD-X in my Rem mag and currently the 162 ELD-M in my 284. Almost guaranteed a cup n core comment when these posts come up haha.

You changing the 284 load Danny? I am pretty sure @chainsaw had success with the 150eldx in the 284

I have a good load in my 7mm using Eldx and they look to be very good on deer I was just wondering about going slightly lighter (shorter) so to keep to one pill in his 7mm08 and my rifle.

My limited experience with them in my 7mm08 has been good. Got them going 2800 in my tikka with RE17. Do have a LA mag and bolt stop as they didn't shoot at mag length with original magazine.

Only shot 1 red stag with them so far so very small sample size. But dropped him on the spot at about 60 yards. No exit but broke shoulder and made hell of a mess of the engine room. I'm happy so far.

I’ve been using them in a 7mm08. Its not my main hunting rifle so I’ve only shot a dozen or so animals with them but I have yet to have a result to make me question their performance.

I’ve used them on Reds, Tahr and pigs and only one animal (a belligerent Bull Tahr!) has required a quick follow up shot although it was ‘probably’ not necessary.

Someone will be along to mention shot placement shortly.

The 150 ELD-X in a 7mm08 perform well on our deer species

The 150 Nosler Ballistic Tip perform slightly better due to their thick copper boat tail

Cant comment specifically on the 150 eldx but I use the 145eldx in my 270wsm and have had nothing but bang flops from 140 yards to 300 yards on fallow and reds, no intention to change any time soon, I recovered the projectile from the dirt behind one of the fallow I shot at 140 yards and it was complete showing good expansion and certainly hadn't blown up.
Personally I would be happy shooting out to 500 yards in good conditions if I couldn't get closer, they carry more than enough energy to do the buisness out that far (1670 ft/lbs @2281fps) and further that's just my limit.

Yeah. I haven't used ELDX much (one deer) but with the NBT I agree that no matter what happens there is always the solid copper base with rough shards of petal attached that pushes through and causes mayhem. I use them a lot.

From what I know and read I would use the NBT.
But hell they are all just a lump of copper and lead that we cant control and they all do a similar job. The old CAC 303 hollow and soft nose killed a million or so and we didn't even have the internet then.

    Thanks all.
My main concern was just that- that what ever I use will do the job and one pill for both rifles one @+3000 and the other -2900fps and magazine loaded.
    Iíll try 150NBT.

It should work well in both rifles, I use to solely use them in my M595 tikka, driving them at 2970fps. And have shot deer from 20 yards to 752, so impact velocities from 2930 to 1630 fps, the bullet always performs well.
