Thread: .22, how heavy for my twist

The 14 twist is quite restrictive Gav.
I got some of the new 53grain Vmaxs because they have a high BC .290 IIRC but my 1-14 won't group better than 3/4-1 moa even at 41-4200 fps.
If I had a 1-12 or similar they would be great.
I tried to compensate for lack of twist with more speed ages ago & it didn't work.
As has been previously said when you increase the twist rate by even 1" it makes much more RPM than increasing the speed by heaps.
You need to run the numbers, my 1-7 really spins the 90 Bergers up at 31-3200+
I tried some 63s in one of my old 1-14 & it didn't shoot very well compared with the 50-52, but that shot 1/4-1/2 moa if I was behaving myself.
