Thread: 223 with 14" barrel - deer

Some years ago I had a .223 model7 it had a full barrel and came with some reloaded 62gn and 55 gn gamekings they killed really really well average sized pigs shoulder shot and lots of fallow deer . At some point I had a chrono out so shot a few over it so I could later try and match the velocity based on how happy I was with performance and to my surprise they were only clocking 2650ish . So while it was a full barrel it was obviously a really light load and performance was fantastic I’m sure a 14” barrel could get those projectiles into that velocity range
