    223 adventures

After much humming and harring and a deal too good to pass up, I am the very recent owner of a Bergara B14 Extreme Hunter in 223.

I've got some Fiocchi 55 grain VMAX to get used to the rifle and smack some hares and goats. Once I've gotten through those I'll be loading for it. It has a 18 inch 1 in 9 twist barrel. Am I wasting my time thinking about 80 grain projectiles? Or even 77 grain TMKs?

Predominant use will be goats, fallow, feral cats and rabbit/hare. No photos yet as I haven't collected the rifle yet.

    Cheers

Hmm that's what they've been advertised as anyway

1:9 restricts you to 69-70gr bullets maybe 73

Hmmm. From memory my HOWA measures 1:9 by the old cleaning rod method. Cut to 16”, stabilises 73 ELDM’s out to 600yds alright on NZNRA Range. Might recheck twist sometime but wtf it works.

    Yet to see a 1:8
I saw the same website info and went looking at actual rifles and 1:9 is clearly marked on their barrels.

1:9 will stabilise the Targex 74 grain. Look no further.
Restraint is the better part of dignity. Don't justify getting even. Do not do unto others as they do unto you if it will cause harm.

Yeah Bergaras own website sucks. What a shame, they should make them 1:8
