The retailer has had it out to do their own testing, similar results to mine, best group was about 2 inches at 100. Four different ammos.

Now they have been asked by the NZ agent to try with a different scope...

Won't know until the end of next week at the earliest, they also want to do their own testing...

I'm just about out of patience.

Grid is 1 MOA, slightly more than inch. Rifle can reliably repeat this if the useless prick behind the butt can keep his shit together. My CMMG AR was actually a bit better shooter than this. Still pisses me off that I had to part with that.

Just get them to fire the rifle in a decent gun vice/rest. This removes most variables. Nowhere to hide from results then.

It's not like we're disagreeing on the point as far as I can see? high levels of precision aren't necessary for hunting. Yeah Tikkas in my experience don't shoot everything as well as everyone claims with cherry picked groups, but who cares? The tikka that shot those 4 groups (and a bunch more that I didn't have handy) has killed a goat or 2 without any notable difficulty
Probably right. From my point of view all I’m worried about is if shit hits the deck as intended, target results or statistical analysis not so much. Sako and Tikkas, I’ve had both. Maybe I was lucky but all three (older models) I’ve owned were great shooters. Worth the extra coin to own one? Probably not. I have owned other brands that shoot as well or better, for less outlay. No matter what brand of firearm or ammo, you pay the money and enter the raffle regarding what performs. A bit like reloading ammo.

No one mentions Savage. Mostly accurate out of the box?
Restraint is the better part of dignity. Don't justify getting even. Do not do unto others as they do unto you if it will cause harm.

The local prefers selling Tikkas because the odds (according to them) of a shooter out of the box are better...less time and less hassles...there's a premium right there and Beretta know it.

That butt fugly bolt.... I've handled a few if them and took mates 7mm mag apart to work on stock, nothing really appealed at all. The old lever actions however hold great appeal, funny how beauty is in eye of beholder.

The floating bolt head is a clever idea and seems to aid accuracy.

Yep. Shot three different Savages of mates, in different calibers, all shot well. Bought a LH Axis in 223 for my boy, man that could group well out to 300m. Basic trigger system but works well. Shame he misplaced the bolt, having a prick of a time trying to source a replacement.

Have a Savage Stevens 200 in 223 here. My second rifle ever. Chopped down to be just legal and have a DPT on it. The plastic stock is soooooo terrible it is beyond imagination. BUT it out-shoots every other rifle I have, including Tikka's, Bergara's and Lithgow's. That's why I upgraded ages ago to a Timney Trigger that cost me more then what I paid for the rifle itself. 26.2gr of H335 and Sierra Blitzking 55gr is the magic combination. Used to run Barnes for bush but working on a load for T-Rex 62gr currently.
