Yes basically the bag (and it should have relatively heavy contents, not polystyrene) provides a more stable/solid rest than a bipod. With proper technique a bipod can work well, but as a rule, is less reliable than a bag or lead sled type rest. By all means you might find your 42gr group is repeatable off a bipod, and if so, job done. But if you find it isn’t, bipod as a factor would be worth checking at least before you get a re crown.Quote:

The accuracy the OP is targeting (post #170 - 3-4" radius) would be hard not to achieve.
Teaser, y'all not getting the full story..... yet.....yesterday I think I achieved my aim of "developing a load that shoots as good as, if not better than the Deer Season", I think I've achieved that (shooting 10RD groups) BUT want to confirm that. The barrel has had a deep clean and I've identified a change in MY technique that I made when this testing all started so I'm reverting back to my "usual" technique with some further tuned rounds, which I'll test later this week when I can get to my local range.....when I've done that I'll post up all the targets from both sessions, with notes......until then :thumbsup:Quote:
