Interesting about the comments of the SST's. I shoot 140gr in a Rem700 270WSM. I haven't had any explode yet, but the closest was about 375yards, very nice mushroom - see the photo(even took a nice Fiordland red stag two weeks ago at 582yards with one). They fly straight and true, and expand nicely once past a couple of hundred yards. If shooting closer, use a softpoint, hollow point or barnes when the efficiency of the projectile doesn't matter. Just make sure it has the energy to dispatch the animal as quick as possible(goes without say at longer distance too.

Sorry, have shot a couple of Tahr at 300 yards too. Straight through, but both dead on the spot.
Here are 5 x Attachment 11071140gn accubonds recovered from deer. Shots were between 15m and 210m. All weighed between 75gn and 85gn after having done their work. I only recover a small proportion of them as they will go through most deer broadside and do a lot of damage on the way.
Make of that what you will.
My 140 6.5 amax's do the same!
Was goat shooting over New Years and was using 130gr Hornady Superformance SST's, the majority of the shots were <150m, and i found that, even though they were hit right in the vitals behind the shoulder, the goats would still run before dropping. I am new to the ballistics game so i am not quite sure what to make of it, but i am guessing the polymer tips perform better once they have slowed down a bit?
Trying the same shots with lead tip projectiles (130gr) dropped every goat in its tracks.
Can anyone shead some light on this?
Too far back?
What are you on about ? If I didn't know better I would say you must be pissed.
