    300 prc load data

Building a 300 PRC custom and just reaching out to see what guys on here are running for loads. Builds still a good 6-9 months out from completion but want to get on to sorting projectiles and powders.

    Barrel is a 1:9 twist, 26".
Mostly after what projectile/powder combos everyone's running and their charge weight as a rough start point.

    I'm just running a mild load of 76.5gr 2217 with a 230gr berger @2850fps in hornady brass.

Be working up a 230gr ATip load with N570 in Lapua brass shortly.

Accuracy loads for me were very mild due to having a pencil thin barrel

    225 Eldm
    76.5gn 2225 - 2700fps
    70.5gn rl23 - 2700fps
    76.5gn rl25 - 2615fps

    208eldm
    72gn rl23 - 2760fps

I gave some 180gn Speer btsp a go with rl25 but only got to 2900fps which was way below what I was expecting.

If I had primers to burn I’d test 2217 next.

Cheers for that lads. Been on the fence a lot around running the 225 ELDM, 212 ELDX or the 210 VLD. Herd a few good things about 225 eldm killing real well? How have you found it on animals?

Also I see the Hornady data sheet they ran loads up with R26. I happen to have a fair bit of it as use it in a few other rifles so might give that a whirl.

I’ll let you know once I shoot something with them haha.

Bergers will supposedly give you a bit more velocity from what I’ve read from US forums.

    @WildBrad

I ended up ditching the Hornady projectiles as the were hard work to group consistently and I simply didn’t trust taking them out on game.

215 Berger Hybrids have been a different story with most charge weights holding under 1Moa and with a lot more velocity to boot. Settled on 2820fps which is shooting 3/4 at worst and typically a bit smaller than that. SD is at 4 over a few range sessions. The eldms were like 20fps.

Took them Tahr hunting but ended up using the 7/08 on everything we shot. Took them deer stalking and I ended up with a 308 in my hands when the opportunity presented itself for a shot… Mate finally blooded the rifle at a mighty long 100m…. The irony of all the time I’ve put into this long range business is not lost on me.

Here’s some gore from the 215 hybrid at close range. Not as bad as I was expecting.

@SPEARONZ Nice man I'll keep it as an option. Still waiting to get my build all finished up.

Anyone on here been running any Mono's. I've got my hands on a box of the Hornady 190gn CX Projectiles. By all acounts they should be wicked just curious I'd anyone's run monos over a wide range of animals. See how they perform from the likes of Chamois/Fallow to Tahr/Red stags. Fingers crossed the rifle will be up and running in a month or so and be in to play time.
