Has anyone had any issues with temp sensitivity with the stout H335 charges?

changing the 308 into the 284 just involved getting a hold of a tikka 708 barrel and getting a smith to rechamber and fit it. I installed a long action bolt stop and a long action mag. cost me $500 all up (already had a mag and got a barrel for $200). Definitely worth the effort!

    What will a 120-130 grain projectile in a 308 do that a 150 wont?
The lighter bullet will get good speeds out of a short barrel and therefore a good trajectory and killing power over moderate ranges.

If standard 20" barrel then yes 150s are the way to go.
15 or 16" and the lighter projectiles have a use.

    Yeah not sure myself.

    I have a 16" 308
Both at 400 Yards both actual loads:
    125 AB doing 3000 needs 6.8 MOA ups for impact v of 1937 with e of 1038
    165 BT doing 2650 needs 8.2 MOA ups for impact v of 1912 with e of 1340

I just run the big dogs now.

    This has intrigued me too...

Reading the nz hunter article on reloading for the 308 bushpig they got a 150gn Accubond doing 2820fps... they didn't end up using it as they thought it was too slow for long range with the Accubonds.... 2820fps is factory std out of a 22'' barrel! Why not use some thing more frangible like a sst or even a SP? Should work ok from point blank to 300 ok?

The numbers look better when run through the calculator albeit with a wee bit more drop but sod all..

Might have to have a play!

I'm sort of in between both camps. I've got a 17" barrel 308 with a dpt suppressor. Been running 125 accubonds at 3000fps with no pressure signs. Leaves me Wondering how some of the heavier projectiles would perform.

The std accubonds are quite a hard projectile, they need some speed to work well which is why they probably didn't use the 150gn.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!

Well, trip to the range this weekend was productive...

Comfortably got the 125gr AB's doing 3000fps and 150gr BT's doing 2860fps! Both just under MOA accuracy, not bad for a 16" tube!

Think my plan is going to be to load some 150gr AB's for close range bush work this roar and 150gr BT's for any longer shots (>100m)

Think this should work well with luck.

Thanks for the help so far chaps!

From my experience the ABs go best at full speed (ie >3000fps MV) even at close range. I think the BTs would be the go at 2860.
