I'd stick with it ,in my opinion thats exactly what you want.Animal absorbs all the shocking power of the projectile which should put it on the deck pretty quick . You don't get that if the projectile exits other side. I would try to put the shot in the shoulder in line with the leg ,that will drop the animal on the spot.
