Heya fellas, I’ve been shooting a few pigs with my 44 lever with some hand loads I’ve been making up. 240gr xtp over w296 @ 1600fps ish, also 300gr xtp over w296 @1400fps. I’ve shot 4 pigs on the bush edge ranging from 30 to 70 yards, both loads are pretty accurate. Every pig I’ve hit has ran every time. Tiny blood trail on one, none on the others. Shot placement is well forward as not to hit guts. Anyone else had an issue with these projectiles? Are my loads too fast for the hollow point pistol projectiles? Not fast enough? 300gr shoots half inch at 50 and 240gr 1.5 @ 100. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I do have other calibres but where I work there’s a lot of walking and I’m generally carrying other stuff too so the the little lever is easy to drag about. Cheers Tris
So how far did they go and what was terminal damage like??? On anything other than big boar a shoulder shot WILL put them down pronto.if you rifle is that accurate, poke pill in earhole.... definitely lights out then.
