Thread: 55gr V-max Load in an AR

Just wanting to know what some others have used. Had a quick search but unless you get the right key words....

Put a couple through my 18" 1:9 R15 today and fastest I got with 26 grains of 2206h pushing the little 55gr V-max was 2975. Loaded up some more up to 26.8 to see how we go but pushing max capacity. Wanting around the 3240 mark for my BDC reticle.

What powder do most of you guys find best.

I use 27gn Varget or ADI 2208 behind a 55Vmax, compressed load which is a pain. Very accurate.
20 inch 1-8 twist AR variant, Rock River Arms. Haven't tried that particular combination yet in my others which are all 1-7

I should say too, its a safe load in my gun but I don't reload cases multiple times, I use once fired cases in my reloads, shoot em and leave em.

What speed is that running at cheers mikee

Never bothered to chrony it but was "minute of bunny", well bits of bunny really. Not all about speed, I have loaded some really fast but they could not be described as accurate unless you were hunting Barn Doors.

Yeah fair call. Was punching tiny groups at that speed. Will try these other loads tomorrow if the weather holds out.
