    6.5 Grendel Reloading - AR2208 / IMR4064

    Hey Guys,

In the spirit of using what I have available at the moment (being that things are running scarce), has anyone worked up a load with either AR2208 / IMR4064 in their 6.5 Grendel.

Wanting a load for Hunting Goat or Fallow out to 250m.

I know this powder isn't ideal in a Grendel, but the ADI website lists these as an equivalent to Varget.
Note, that the Hornady manual lists loads for Varget for the 120-123gr Projectile Range

I have close to 100x Once fire Hornady Brass
About 2/3 a 4lt bottle of old, but seemingly all good AR2208
About 200grams of old, but seemingly all good IMR4064

What Primers / Projectile are recommended (that are currently in stock / available)?

    Thanks in advance!

Ive just run them both thru Quickload, with a 123 eldm at 2.3 inch coal. Neither really look that great, sure they'll work but with both of them you get to 100% fill weight well before you get to max pressure. Youll be a good 100 fps down on what more ideal powders will give.

Looks like a max charge of 27.5-28gr of each, but start lower and work up to that if you are going to try it.

2206H would be much better if you had some of that.

Thanks @GWH, based on that info, least I can do is give it a go. Would you suggest starting loads at 26.5 and work up in .3?

If I can get my hands on some 2206H or H335 I will, but just working worse case scenario.
If the load works, but velocity is down, I will just have to get closer to the target.

Yep, you should be fine to start at 26.5 gr for each, according to QL the pressure should be low enough for a nice safe starting load.

Varget actually is AR2208, repackaged by Hodgon.
